Bengaluru Weather Forecast: Red Alert Issued as City Braces for Week-Long Rainfall

The southwest monsoon has reached southern India. As a result, Bengaluru and many parts of Karnataka will see heavy rain and strong winds this week.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for May 26 and 27, warning of possible flooding and disruptions.

Bengaluru Weather Forecast (May 26 – May 31, 2025)

  • Wind speed: 30–40 km/h
  • Day temperature: 25–27°C
  • Night temperature: 19–20°C
  • Rain: Heavy rain and storms expected every day till May 31
  • Impact: Waterlogging, fallen trees, and traffic delays likely

The IMD says that these weather conditions may cause urban flooding and traffic jams in the city.

The monsoon has now moved into:

  • More areas of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, and Kerala
  • All of Goa
  • Some parts of Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland

Coastal Karnataka (May 26–28)

  • Districts: Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada
  • May 26–27: Very heavy rain with winds of 40–50 km/h
  • May 28: Heavy rain continues, especially in Dakshina Kannada

North Interior Karnataka (May 26–28)

  • May 26–27:
    • Very heavy rain in Belagavi and Dharwad
    • Heavy rain in Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Gadag, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Yadgir
    • Winds: 40–50 km/h
  • May 28: Moderate to heavy rain will continue across most districts

South Interior Karnataka (May 26–28)

  • Districts: Bengaluru (Urban & Rural), Mysuru, Mandya, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar, Hassan, Ballari, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, and others
  • May 26:
    • Very heavy rain and winds (50–60 km/h) in Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Shivamogga
    • Heavy rain in Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Chamarajanagar
    • Light to moderate rain in Bengaluru, Tumakuru, Davangere
  • May 27:
    • Extremely heavy rain in Chikkamagaluru and Kodagu
    • Heavy rain in Shivamogga, Mysuru, Ballari, and Vijayanagara
  • May 28:
    • Very heavy rain in Shivamogga, Kodagu, and Chikkamagaluru
    • Rain will continue in Bengaluru, Ramanagara, Mandya, and Ballari
