Droupadi Murmu to inaugurate Mahagogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University in Gorakhpur
In a historic program for the state of Uttar Pradesh, President Draupadi Murmu is set to inaugurate the Mahagogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University in Gorakhpur today. The opening ceremony will mark the onset of a new chapter in the healthcare and cultural scenario of the area. The Mahagogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University will be inaugurated today, Tuesday, at 11:30 am in Pipri, Bhat, located in Gorakhpur. Built at a cost of 268 crores, the university will provide top education in various Ayush fields including Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani and Homeopathy. It is the first Ayush University in Uttar Pradesh, and its establishment indicates a major jump towards integrating traditional medicine with modern health practices.
Chief Minister’s vision for university
The inauguration ceremony will show the presence of several major figures, including the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, who expressed their excitement about the project. CM Yogi emphasized that the establishment of a university in the land of Mahagogi Guru Gorakhnath, known for his contribution to spiritual and healthcare practices, will begin a new era of health and culture in the region.
The Chief Minister also mentioned, “I strongly believe that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this university will not only become a center for medical education, but will also act as a beacon of the Indian knowledge traditions, including Yoga, Ayurveda, and holistic healthcare.
Infrastructure and future development
The Mahagogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University has an impressive infrastructure including the 28-Kotage Panchkarama Center. This special treatment center will offer a series of traditional treatment remedies under specialist supervision. So far, more than 1.25 lakh people have benefited from consultation with AYUSH doctors through OPD services provided in the university. In the coming months, the university is also expected to open an in-post department (IPD) and operating theater, making it a-stop destination for overall healthcare. This expansion promises to make Ayush treatment more accessible with significant benefits for the community.
Economic opportunity for local farmers and youth
The establishment of the university also opens the doors for more and more economic opportunities in the region. Along with focusing on the cultivation of medicinal plant, the university aims to improve the livelihood of local farmers by encouraging the development of medicinal herbs. By offering a medicinal farming program, the university will help farmers to increase their income and provide a permanent source of revenue through the sale of medicinal plants. Prior to the establishment of this university, various traditional medical streams such as Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy and Yoga were governed by various institutions. However, this Ayush University will look after and regulate everyone Institutions in Uttar Pradesh, including 98 private and government Ayush colleges in the state. Integration of these various healthcare methods under a single institute will help increase the practice of AYUSH drugs in the state.
Gorakhpur: A center of Higher Education and Health Services
Apart from Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, Gorakhpur became the only district in Uttar Pradesh with four operating universities. Earlier, the city was home to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gorakhpur University, Madan Mohan Malavia University of Technology and Mahagogi Gorakhnath University. This growing education infrastructure is expected to make Gorakhpur a major center for higher education, which attracts both students and professionals from the state and country.
