Assam Floods 2025: 11 Dead, Over 5.15 Lakh Affected in 22 Districts

The floods in Assam have become very serious. Heavy rain and rising rivers have caused a lot of damage. Many people have been forced to leave their homes.

Death Toll Rises to 11

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority says 11 people have died. Six died in floods, and five in landslides. In the last day, one person drowned in Hojai. Two others are missing in Hailakandi and Dibrugarh.

More Than 5.15 Lakh People Affected in 22 Districts

Floods have hit 22 districts hard. Over 5.15 lakh people are affected. Some of the worst-hit places are:

  • Sribhumi
  • Cachar
  • Nagaon
  • Lakhimpur
  • Hailakandi
  • Dibrugarh
  • Tinsukia

About 1,254 villages are still underwater as of June 2.

Rivers Above Danger Levels

The Brahmaputra, Barak, and other rivers are flowing very high at places like:

  • Neamatighat
  • Tezpur
  • Numaligarh

High water is causing more floods and danger.

Sribhumi Worst Hit, Relief Camps Open

Sribhumi district has the most damage, with nearly 2 lakh people affected. Other badly hit districts include Cachar and Nagaon.
There are 322 relief camps now. About 1.85 lakh people are staying there.

Farms and Roads Damaged

Floods have ruined over 12,600 hectares of farmland. Many animals are also affected, with 94 reported dead recently.
The floods have damaged:

  • 49 roads
  • 4 bridges
  • 3 embankments

This makes rescue work harder.

Other Northeastern States Also Affected

Heavy rain and landslides are also hitting states like Manipur, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh. Roads are blocked, and rivers are rising.

Government Promises Help

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured full help for the affected states. He talked to the chief ministers of Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and the governor of Manipur. The government will provide all aid needed.

More Rain Expected

The India Meteorological Department warns that heavy rain will continue for two more days in the Northeast. Places like Nagaland and Meghalaya should be careful of floods and landslides.
