June 2 – In an Instagram post Sunday, Maycee Barber explained why she had to cancel her UFC Fight Night main event against Erin Blanchfield at the last minute due to a medical emergency.
Seizure Scare Cancels Main Event at UFC Vegas 107
Maycee Barber, the 27-year-old UFC flyweight contender, publicly apologized after canceling her main event bout against Erin Blanchfield at UFC Vegas 107. The fight, set for May 31, 2025, was canceled just minutes before both fighters were supposed to walk to the Octagon because Barber experienced a suspected seizure backstage.
Barber didn’t confirm in her post that she suffered a seizure, but a video showed medical staff wheeling her out of the arena on a stretcher. One photo she shared showed medical sensors attached across her body.
Barber’s Apology and Statement
“Not what I had planned for a Sunday post,” Barber wrote. “Thank you to everyone for the prayers & support. I owe an apology to @ufc @mickmaynard2 @danawhite @seanshelby & @blanchfield_mma.”
Blanchfield Expresses Frustration
In an interview with ESPN, Blanchfield said she was waiting for her walkout music on Saturday night at UFC Vegas 107 when UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell informed her backstage that Barber was medically unfit to fight.

“Nobody told me anything until Hunter came in and said she was having a seizure and couldn’t compete,” Blanchfield said.
Blanchfield criticized Barber, who had missed weight by half a pound the previous day.
“She needs to move to another division,” Blanchfield said. “She needs to get her life together. I think she’s a complete mess in every aspect of her life.”
Barber Addresses Blanchfield’s Remarks
In her social media post, Barber responded to Blanchfield’s criticism.
“PS my life is not messy—this is just a bad hand,” Barber wrote. “We will figure it out and come back stronger.”
Barber’s Recent Health Issues
Barber aimed to compete for the first time since March 2024, following other health challenges. She had spent nine days in the hospital in 2024, battling pneumonia, strep throat, and a staph infection.
Blanchfield Rules Out Future Matchups with Barber
The Barber vs. Blanchfield bout, which featured top-five flyweight contenders, generated significant interest. However, Blanchfield told ESPN she has no interest in fighting Barber again.
