Rekha Gupta Slams AAP’s Education Model: “Just Marketing, Full of Empty Promises” – Top15News: Latest India & World News, Live Updates

In a powerful address at the Times Summit, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a scathing attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), accusing it of prioritising publicity over policy in the education sector. Gupta alleged that AAP spent a staggering ₹70 crore solely on advertising its educational model, rather than investing in the actual needs of students and schools.

Advertising vs Actual School Reform

CM Rekha Gupta didn’t hold back as she exposed the wide gap between AAP’s promotional narrative and ground realities. AAP has long claimed to champion progressive education policies—such as the Happiness Curriculum and Entrepreneurship Mindset Curriculum. However, critics argue that while these programs look impressive on paper and in media campaigns, their real-world impact is limited and often superficial.

According to Gupta, the emphasis on ads—rather than classrooms—shows the government’s misplaced priorities.

“The narrative AAP has constructed, claiming to prioritise happiness and extracurricular activities, is nothing more than a façade,” she said.

Ground Realities: What Data Tells Us

While AAP’s government has received global praise for school transformations, several RTI queries and audit reports have revealed shortcomings:

  • Infrastructure gaps remain in many Delhi government schools—insufficient desks, broken toilets, and overcrowded classrooms.
  • In a 2023 Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, it was noted that only 45% of budgeted funds for infrastructure were utilised fully.
  • Learning outcomes in Mathematics and English among Class 6-8 students declined in 2022-23, according to NAS (National Achievement Survey) data.

Rekha Gupta’s Vision: Action Over Optics

Contrasting her approach, Rekha Gupta announced that her administration has allocated ₹700 crore for real, measurable improvements in school infrastructure. She also said she operates her office from her own home to cut unnecessary government expenses and set a new precedent in public accountability.

“Many citizens still lack basic amenities. My government prioritises classrooms over conference halls,” Gupta said.z

🏗️ Focus Areas Under Rekha Gupta’s Administration

  1. Construction of new classrooms and labs in underfunded areas.
  2. Clean sanitation facilities for girls and boys in all schools.
  3. Smart teaching aids, tablets, and e-learning tools.
  4. Free remedial coaching for weak students to bridge learning gaps.

Political Backdrop: Delhi’s Education War

The education debate in Delhi is not just about schools—it’s also a political battleground. AAP has built its image around education reforms. Rekha Gupta’s direct challenge to this narrative is aimed at reshaping public opinion ahead of the upcoming civic polls.

While the AAP defends its media spend as necessary for awareness, critics argue it’s a cover for style over substance.
