BRS in Turmoil: Kavitha’s BJP Outreach and Subtle Digs at KTR – Top15News: Latest India & World News, Live Updates

Family Rift Comes to the Fore

Telangana’s regional party, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), faces growing internal turmoil. K Kavitha, daughter of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), has openly expressed her discontent with the party’s leadership. Although she avoided naming her brother K T Rama Rao (KTR) directly, her remarks clearly revealed the deepening discord.

Kavitha’s Letter and Its Fallout

Initially, a letter Kavitha wrote to KCR on May 2 leaked later that month, sparking controversy. In the letter, she criticised KCR for not taking a stronger stand against the BJP in Telangana, where Congress currently controls the government while BRS and BJP remain in opposition. Consequently, the leak intensified tensions inside the party.

Kavitha Declares Loyalty to KCR

During a press conference, Kavitha made her stance clear: “I have only one leader, that is KCR. I will work only under one leader, that is KCR.” Moreover, she revealed that some party members had proposed merging BRS with BJP while she was imprisoned. However, she firmly rejected the idea, insisting, “BRS must remain independent to safeguard Telangana’s interests.”

Accusations of ‘Covert Operatives’

Furthermore, Kavitha accused certain factions within the party of undermining her efforts. She said, “Some covert operatives work against me, yet I have always stood by BRS,” without naming KTR. When asked whether the party was weakening, she replied that “BJP will benefit if BRS loses strength. Therefore, we must not merge with any other party, including Congress or BJP.”

Tensions Over Party Direction and the ‘Letter Leak’

In her role leading BRS’s women’s wing and as a Legislative Council member, Kavitha criticised the party’s increasing focus on social media. She questioned, “Why do party activities stay limited to Twitter posts?” Additionally, she raised concerns about the lack of grassroots mobilisation when Congress summoned KCR over the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project.

Regarding the letter leak, Kavitha denied leaking it herself and demanded accountability for those responsible. “The individuals who leaked the letter must face consequences,” she said firmly.

Rejecting Claims of Congress Support

Moreover, Kavitha strongly dismissed rumours suggesting she works with Congress to weaken BRS. She stated clearly, “These allegations are false. I avoid covert politics and speak openly, as I do now.”

KTR’s Response and Kavitha’s Counter

Although KTR remained largely silent, he commented that “internal democracy allows anyone to write letters to KCR.” In response, Kavitha shot back, “If that’s true, why attack me for writing a letter? I have written over a hundred letters to my father and party president. This is how I operate within the party.”
