Pakistan’s Offensive Foiled by BrahMos Missiles: Exclusive Insights from Shehbaz Sharif – Top15News: Latest India & World News, Live Updates

Recently, Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, shocked many by admitting that Indian BrahMos missile strikes stopped a planned Pakistani military attack on India. He made this statement at an international security meeting in Lachin, Azerbaijan. This revelation has drawn widespread attention across South Asia.

What Happened That Night?

According to Sharif, Pakistan’s military had planned a “limited and strategic” attack against India. The operation was scheduled to start at 4:30 AM on May 10, 2025, right after the Fajr (pre-dawn) prayers. Moreover, Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, was leading the operation. However, before Pakistani forces could begin, India launched BrahMos missile strikes. As a result, the entire plan was disrupted.

Sharif explained:

“On the night of May 9–10, we decided to respond calmly to Indian aggression. At 4:30 in the morning, our armed forces — led by Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir — were ready to teach the enemy a lesson. But before then, India launched missile attacks. BrahMos hit several places in Pakistan, including the Rawalpindi airport and other sites.”

What Is the BrahMos Missile?

To begin with, the BrahMos missile is a supersonic cruise missile developed jointly by India and Russia. It flies very fast — nearly three times the speed of sound. Furthermore, India can launch it from land, sea, or air. The missile is highly precise and powerful. Recently, India increased its range to about 800 kilometers.

Because of its speed and accuracy, the BrahMos missile serves as a strong weapon for attack or defense. This incident clearly demonstrates how effectively it can stop threats before they grow bigger.

Why the Strikes Matter Strategically

India’s strikes were not just a quick reaction; they sent a strong message to Pakistan. Indeed, India knew about Pakistan’s plan and acted first. This shows India’s excellent surveillance capabilities and readiness to respond quickly.

Interestingly, Sharif’s public admission of Pakistan’s plan surprised many. Such admissions are rare. Therefore, this may indicate internal pressure within Pakistan’s military or government. It could also be an attempt to gain sympathy from the international community.

Political Reactions and What It Means

So far, India has not issued an official response. However, experts suggest that Pakistan’s admission aims to show Pakistan as a responsible actor forced to back down by “Indian aggression.” Moreover, Pakistan might be trying to save face domestically, especially since people and military leaders there may question the failed operation.

At the same time, this revelation may expose problems within Pakistan’s military and government coordination. In other words, it reveals potential weaknesses in their planning and strategy.

Peace on a Thin Line

Finally, Shehbaz Sharif’s statement offers a rare glimpse into the fragile state of India-Pakistan relations. It clearly shows that peace in South Asia is very fragile. Often, conflict can start with just one missile launch. As missile technology improves, diplomacy must also evolve. Therefore, both countries should focus on dialogue and avoid escalation. Otherwise, the cost of the next conflict could be very high.
