Rakul Preet Singh has always impressed audiences with her acting skills, but her influence in the fashion world is equally noteworthy. For her, style isn’t about following trends or making a statement for attention — it’s about staying true to herself. “Fashion, for me, is a statement of who you are and what your personality is,” she shares. Comfort and authenticity form the foundation of her style choices, whether she’s on the red carpet or enjoying a casual day off.
Fashion as a Reflection of Personality
Rakul believes that style should be a direct reflection of one’s personality. On her off-duty days, she gravitates towards easy-going streetwear, perfectly aligning with her laid-back nature. “I don’t pay much attention to using fashion to break out of an image. It has to be close to who you are,” she explains.
This philosophy was evident in her recent fantasy-themed shoot, where she experimented with bold, intricate designs while keeping them within her comfort zone. “When I saw the references, I thought it might be a bit too much for me, but the way it all turned out was amazing. Fashion allows you to explore things you wouldn’t do every day,” she says.
The Outfits That Stole the Show
JJ Valaya Maroon Gown
Rakul dazzled in a maroon JJ Valaya gown featuring antique gold and silver metallic embroidery, dabka work, sequins, kundans, and kasab details. Delicate gota tapes added elegance, while a gold bird-inspired headpiece by Deepa Gurnani and a striking green choker from Shree Jee Jewellers completed the royal look.
Falguni Shane Peacock Velvet Robe
In another standout look, she wore a black velvet robe by Falguni Shane Peacock, adorned with rich floral and jewel-toned embroidery over a sheer embellished dress. A sequinned statement hat by Deepa Gurnani and layered necklaces from Shree Jee Jewellers added dramatic flair.
Alpana Neeraj Sculpted Black Silk
Rakul embraced a divine queen aesthetic in sculpted black silk by Alpana Neeraj, paired with a bold corset featuring radial gold motifs. A towering ornate crown from Deepa Gurnani and a delicate pearl necklace from Izzari elevated the regal vibe.
Nidhika Shekhar Black Saree
She turned heads in a visionary black saree by Nidhika Shekhar, featuring a fully embellished corset and an intricately cutwork pre-draped pallu. The ensemble was paired with ASV Polkis’ Noor-e-Nizam necklace, a pastel-hued piece with carved green stones, morganites, and a Russian emerald cabochon.

Moledro Blush-Toned Gown
Rakul showcased elegance in Moledro’s blush-toned gown with a sculpted corset bodice and cascading silhouette. The look was completed with Omara Fine Jewellery’s sea-horse-inspired pink sapphire choker.
Jayanti Reddy Beige-Gold Anarkali
For a touch of earthy opulence, she wore a Jayanti Reddy anarkali with intricate beige-gold sequin embroidery. A dried-floral crown from Deepa Gurnani and a bold green choker by Kishandas & Co. finished the ensemble.
A Balance Between Experimentation and Comfort
Rakul enjoys experimenting with her style but sets clear boundaries. “I like to experiment with outfits and styling, but it has to be within the parameters of what I believe in and what I can carry. I won’t go to extremes where I’m not comfortable,” she says. Whether it’s accessories, makeup, or clothing, she plays around with her look until it complements her authenticity.

Modern vs. Traditional Fashion
When asked if she prefers traditional or modern styles, Rakul leans towards modern contemporary fashion. “My style is more streetwear, and that comes naturally to me. I don’t try to amalgamate it with traditional fashion because both have their own occasions. I carry traditional wear just as well, but it’s always best to dress for the occasion,” she notes.
Staying Authentic Above All
For Rakul, the ultimate goal isn’t to leave a mark in the fashion world — it’s to remain authentic. “If you are true to yourself in how you dress and your styling reflects your individuality, it will create its own mark,” she says. Her recent appearance at the FDCI Wedding Weekend in New Delhi offered a perfect showcase of this philosophy. Blending regal silhouettes with modern elegance, Rakul proved that staying authentic can still make a powerful fashion statement.
